Losing My Hair

Yes, I am losing my hair now but only on my chinney chin chin!  Overall, it took about 20 days from the start of radiation for the hair to start falling off on and around my neck area.  It also affects the back of my neck so I am losing a bit of hair back there.  But as for my head of hair, still growing!

So yeah, I haven’t had a haircut yet.  Primarily, I don’t want any hair down the trach, its a weird I know because I can put a plug in the trach and nothing will go down.  But reality is this, I am not going to allow cancer rule my life.  I will get a haircut when I am ready and right now I am not ready for it.  I rather lose all my hair or clumps of it before I get a haircut.

For some, I know this is not an option.  Based on the radiation or chemo type determines what effects you will encounter.  My chemo treatment is cisplatin and it doesn’t really affect the hair.  The radiation is what is killing my hair follicles.  It will take a long time for the hair to grow back again, in the meantime, no lumber jack beard for me!
